Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, July 10 / Trend H.Hasanov /

Turkmen President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov signed an order to appoint Bayramgeldi Nedirov Minister for Oil and Gas Industry and Mineral Resources.

Based on the BP report on natural gas reserves in the world, Turkmenistan possesses the world's largest natural gas reserves (ranking fourth, following Russia, Iran and Qatar), and claims the role of one of the key players in the energy field in the Caspian region. Earlier, Ashgabat launched an alternate pipeline to China (a design capacity of up to 40 billion) and additional branches to Iran.

The country considers pipeline projects such as an additional pipeline to Russia (the Caspian Sea via Kazakhstan), Europe (Nabucco via the Caspian Sea through Azerbaijan) and India (through the Trans-Afghan via Pakistan).
