GDP in Azerbaijan's non-oil sector ups by 4.7 percent

Azerbaijan's GDP grew by 3.7 percent or 561.4 million manat and reached 19.7 billion manat in the first half of 2010, the State Statistics Committee said. GDP per capita amounted to 2210.6 manat ($2751.5), an increase of 2.5 percent.

Some 13.3 billion manat (67.5 percent) of GDP accounted for industry, 5.1 billion manat (26.2 percent) the sphere of services. In these areas, value added grew by 2.5 percent and 5.4 percent respectively. Net taxes on products and imports amounted to 6.3 percent of GDP.

During the report period, agriculture, hunting and forestry provided 673.5 million manat, or 3.4 percent of the GDP; hotel business and the area of catering - 221.3 million manat (1.1 percent); transport - 1.2bln manat (6.3 percent); communication and post service - 316.7 million manat (1.6 percent); wholesale and retail trade, automobile field, domestic products and repairing personal-use items - 1.3bln manat (6.7 percent); social and other services - 2.1bln manat (10.5 percent).

Some 2.4 percent increase in added value was observed in the oil-gas sector of the economy and 4.7 - non-oil sector.

The official exchange rate is 0.8037 manat to $1 July 15.
