WB’s new country manager takes up his duties

The WB new manager to Azerbaijan Joseph Owen officially took up his duties, the WB Baku Office said today.

The WB new manager to Azerbaijan Joseph Owen officially took up his duties, the WB Baku Office said today.

"Owen has already begun to get acquainted with Azerbaijan's state agencies, he met with the Head of Public-Political Department of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan, Ali Hasanov, and the Minister of Economic Development Shahin Mustafayev," the office said.

The main purpose of the meetings was to get acquainted with state agencies and their leadership. In the future, Owen also intends to meet with the leadership of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, Ministry of Finance. He will hold a series of meetings with key partners of the Bank in the country next week.
Owen previously served as manager in Nicaragua

The term of a country manager is three years. But it may be extended for the fourth year. The current WB representative in Azerbaijan Gregory Jedzejczak performs these powers now for the fourth year. The term expires in August.
