Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec. 12 /Trend, N.Ismayilova/
State Committee on Standardization, Metrology and Patents of Azerbaijan intends to acquire time standard at the beginning of next year, the head of the State Committee Ramiz Hasanov said Sunday.
"Earlier we planned to acquire it by the end of this year, but could not, I think in January or February next year, the standard will be delivered to the country," Hasanov said.
According to him, the acquisition of the standard will allow moving to a system of single time throughout the country. The head of the State Committee also reported on the launching of the national etalon center, which already received the first orders.
"We're already getting equipment from other countries, particularly from Georgia. We have tested it and sent back to Georgia," he said.
Five standards will be applied in the center: weight, pressure, viscosity, density and temperature. 2 million euro from means of technical help of EU was spent on these standards. The establishment of the etalon center was part of twining project "Standardization, metrology and conformity assessment and intensification of opportunities in the sphere of accreditation" of State Committee on Standardization, Metrology and Patents of Azerbaijan".
Unlike etalon center, the EU refused to finance Azerbaijan's purchase of time standard. The reason for refusal is that the time standard is made in the USA and Russia. Currently, the State Committee is negotiating on the acquisition of this strategic time standard at its own expense.
