Prices for food products rose by 12.4 percent in Kazakhstan in May 2011, compared to the same period of 2010, the country's Statistics Agency said on Thursday.
So, according to the agency, the prices of cereals increased by 2.1 times, butter and fats - 23.5 percent, flour - 19 percent, fruits and vegetables - 16.4 percent, sugar - 16.3 percent, dairy products - 10.3 percent, coffee, tea and cocoa, pasta - by 8.7 percent, confectionery products - by 7.3 percent, bread and alcoholic beverages - by 4.6 percent.
Price rise for meat (including meat products) during this period amounted to 15 percent. The level of prices for mutton increased by 18.5 percent, poultry meat - by 10.8 percent, horse meat - 10.2 percent, sausages- 9.8 percent and pork - 5.5 percent.
