From the beginning of the year, the Taxes Ministry of Azerbaijan jointly with the Central Bank and other relevant agencies started to accelerate the installation of POS-terminals in the areas of trade and services, the Taxes Minister Fazil Mammadov said, making a speech at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers dedicated to the socio-economic development in the first half of 2011, which was held under chairmanship of President Ilham Aliyev on July 12.
"For six months, more than 3,000 POS-terminals have been established only in Baku," said Mammadov.
According to him, also talks began with banks for the importation of POS-terminals, working through the mobile communication facilities.
"Their import has begun, part of such devices has been installed," said Mammadov.
He said one of the main ways to broaden the tax base and resolve other problems is to increase the transparency of business activities, increase non-cash payments, expand use of payment instruments used in the modern world.
