According to the Uzbek State Statistics Committee, the country reduced cotton fiber production by 7.6 percent in January-June up to 589,804 tons compared to the same period in 2010.
Cotton yarn production during the period fell by 30.6 percent up to 68,085 tons, with cotton fabric production dropping by 21.8 percent up to 35.132 square meters.
Uzbekistan increased cotton fiber production by 7.5 percent in 2010 compared to the previous year - up to 1.125 million tons.
Uzbekistan ranks sixth globally for cotton fiber production and third for cotton fiber export.
The country produces 3.5 million tons of raw cotton and 1-1.2 million tons of cotton fiber per year.
