Monetary inflation in Azerbaijani hits 2.4 percent

Consumer prices and tariffs for services in Azerbaijan in June 2012 compared to the previous month increased by 1.3 percent, while inflation in January - June compared to the same period last year was 2.2 percent, the State Statistics Committee said on Monday.

During June, food prices decrease by 2.7 percent, non-food prices and tariffs for services remained unchanged.

Compared to January - June 2011 food prices in January -June increased by 2.6 percent, non-food - by 1.3 percent and tariffs for services - by 1.7 percent.

In June, the base consumer price index, calculated net of goods and services subject to seasonal changes (fruits and vegetables), and prices for which are regulated by the state, compared with the previous month decreased by 0.1 percent, in January - June - 2.4 percent on an annualized basis.

During the month there was an decrease in prices on such food products grain products (0.1 percent), meat products (0.1 percent), dairy products, butter, cheese and eggs (0.3 percent), vegetable products (13 percent), fruit (seven percent), mineral water, soft drinks and juices (0.2 percent), sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and sweets (0.5 percent).

The price increased on such foods as fish products (0.6 percent) and tobacco (0.4 percent).
