Construction materials account for over 10 percent of Georgian export to Azerbaijan

Some 379,090 tons of cement in the amount of $27.97 million was exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan in January-October 2013, according to a report posted on website of GruzStat (National Statistical Service of Georgia).

According to the report, the specific weight of this category in the total volume of Georgian exports to Azerbaijan amounted to 4.8 percent in the reporting period.

The volume of cement export from Georgia decreased by 1.48 per cent or 7,230 tons compared to the same period of 2012. For comparison, some 386,320 tons of cement in the amount of $28.39 million was exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan in January-October 2012.

In the reporting period the growth of steel bar export from Georgia to Azerbaijan was also observed. Thus, some 53,740 tons of steel bar in the amount of $33.65 million was exported to Azerbaijan in January-October 2013, which is by 13.09 percent more than in the same period of 2012. For comparison, Azerbaijan imported about 47,520 tons of steel bar in the amount of $32.5 million from Georgia in January-October 2012. The specific weight of this category in the total volume of Georgian exports to Azerbaijan amounted to 5.28 percent in the reporting period.

Some $582.38 million worth of goods was exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan in January-October 2013 and this figure accounted for 25.3 percent of the total volume of the country's export during the reporting period.

The export from Georgia to Azerbaijan increased by 11.17 percent compared to the same period of 2012. For comparison, some $523.88 million worth of goods was exported to Azerbaijan in January-October 2012.
