Construction materials account for over 10 percent of Georgian exports to Azerbaijan in 2013

Some 438,210 tons of cement worth $32.33 million was exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan in 2013, according to a report posted on the GruzStat website, the National Statistical Service of Georgia.

According to the report, the specific weight of this category in the total volume of Georgian exports to Azerbaijan amounted to 4.55 percent in the reporting period.

The volume of cement exports from Georgia decreased by 3.03 percent, or 15,130 tons compared to 2012. For comparison, some 453,340 tons of cement worth $33.34 million was exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan in 2012.

In the reporting period, the growth of steel bar exports from Georgia to Azerbaijan was also observed. Some 64,470 tons of steel bars to the amount of $40.49 million was exported to Azerbaijan in 2013 which is 16.52 percent more than in 2012. For comparison, Azerbaijan imported about 51,030 tons of steel bars worth $34.75 million from Georgia in 2012. The specific weight of this category in the total volume of Georgian exports to Azerbaijan amounted to 5.7 percent in the reporting period.

In total, some $710.21 million worth of goods was exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan in 2013 and this figure accounted for 24.4 percent of the total volume of the country's exports during the reporting period. Exports to Azerbaijan increased by 13.3 percent compared to 2012. For comparison, $626.85 million worth of goods was exported to Azerbaijan in 2012.

Azerbaijan maintains second position in the list of the largest trade partners of Georgia. In turn, Georgia exports vehicles, livestock (live weight), steel bars, cement, mineral water, glass and glass products and medicines to Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan exports oil and oil products, natural gas, freight transport and construction materials to Georgia.
