Georgian cattle exports to Azerbaijan exceed $2.5 million since early 2014

Slightly more than 1000 tons of live cattle worth $2.55 million were exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan in January 2014, the Georgian National Statistics Service said in its report.
The share of this category in the total volume of Georgian exports to Azerbaijan for the period totalled 6.88 percent, according to the report.

The cattle export volume from Georgia decreased by 25.22 percent and in quantitative terms by 0,340 tons compared to the same period of 2013. By comparison, 1340 tons of live cattle worth $3.41 million were exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan in January 2013.

Some $37.09 million worth of goods were exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan during the reporting period which accounts for 16.6 percent of the total volume of the country's exports during the reporting period.

Exports to Azerbaijan decreased by 19.5 percent in a year. By comparison, Georgian goods worth $46.05 million were exported to Azerbaijan in January 2013.

Azerbaijan maintains second position in the list of Georgia's largest trading partners. Georgia exports vehicles, cattle (live weight), steel armature, cement, mineral water, glass and glass products and medicines to Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan, in turn, exports oil and petroleum products, natural gas, trucks and construction materials to Georgia.
