Demand for Russian rubles has grown in Kazakhstan again in June, Ranking.kz analytical service said.
After the 50-percent drop in demand for rubles in May compared to April, the sales of rubles increased by 42 percent in June, or by 17.1 billion tenge (187.45 tenge = $1), said the analytical service.
In total, 57.9 billion tenge worth of Russian currency was sold by exchange offices in Kazakhstan in June, or by 27.8 billion tenge (92.2 percent) more compared to June 2014.
The growth in demand for the ruble was observed in all regions of Kazakhstan.
The following provinces of Kazakhstan saw the highest growth rate in a month: Aktobe (almost twofold increase - 3.5 billion tenge), Astana (61.7 percent - 8 billion tenge) and Atyrau (58.7 percent - 2.5 billion tenge).
The exchange offices of Almaty (10.1 billion tenge) and Astana (8 billion tenge) ranked first and second, respectively for the sale volume of Russian rubles.
Regions bordering Russia are traditionally leading among the provinces: East Kazakhstan province - 6.6 billion tenge, West Kazakhstan - 5.3 billion tenge and Pavlodar - 4.8 billion tenge.
