Unemployment rate in Turkey increases

The unemployment rate in Turkey reached 10.3 percent in 2015, which is the highest figure since 2010, said the report issued by Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat).

The total number of unemployed increased by 204,000 people in 2015, or by 0.4 percent compared to 2014 and stood at 3.057 million people, according to the report.

The unemployment rate among men and women in Turkey stood at 9.2 percent and 12.6 percent, respectively. This is while the unemployment in the non-agricultural sphere has reached 12.4 percent.

The unemployment rate among the youth aged 15 to 24 has reached 18.5 percent.

The population's employment rate totaled 46 percent in Turkey in 2015. This is while the total number of the employed reaches 26.621 million people. The employment rate among men and women stood at 65 percent and 27.5 percent, respectively.

Turkey's total population is 78.741 million people as of early 2016.
