Azerbaijan’s power plants generated 12.94 billion kilowatt hours of electricity in January-July 2016, or 5 percent less than in the same period of 2015, a State Statistics Committee report said.
During the period, commercial electricity accounted for 12.36 billion kilowatt hours of the total produced electricity, or 4.8 percent less than in January-July 2015.
Thermal power plants gave 11.04 billion kilowatt hours of the total commercial electricity output in January-July 2016, or 7.5 percent less than in the same period of 2015.
During the period, Azerbaijan’s hydro-power plants generated 1.28 billion kilowatt hours of commercial electricity, or 21.7 percent more than in January-July 2015.
This is while, wind farms and solar power plants in the country produced 10.6 million and 36.7 million kilowatt hours of electricity, respectively, in January-July 2016.
Generation capacity of Azerbaijan's power supply system has increased to 11,111 megawatts over the recent 10 years.
