Kazakh parliament approves agreement with Asian Development Bank

Today, the Minister for Investment and Development of Kazakhstan Zhenis Kasymbek presented the bill "On ratification of the agreement between Kazakhstan and the Asian Development Bank," during the plenary session of the Kazakh Parliament, Ministry for Investment and Development of Kazakhstan said in a message.

“The Principal Agreement on allocation of $371 million was signed on June 18, 2013 and was ratified by the law on reconstruction of the 170-km-long section of the Shetpe-Aktau road on December 26, 2013. The government decided to use the savings from this project ($73.3 million) for the reconstruction of the neighboring "Zhetybai-Zhanaozen" road, which was agreed in the Letter of Agreement between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Asian Development Bank, signed on June 20, 2017,” said Zhenis Kasymbek.

The bill was endorsed by the members of the Kazakh Parliament. The minister also talked on the projects of the "Nurly Jol" program, which is planned to be implemented in the near future.

"The Nurly Zhol program includes 11 major road projects. A number of them is planned to be realized through the funds of the international financial institutions amounting to $1.8 billion,” the minister said.

Nurly Zhol project, announced by Kazakhstan's President Nursultan Nazarbayev in November 2014, was intended to develop and modernize roads, railways, ports, IT infrastructure, education and civil services of Kazakhstan.
