The agreement between the Governments of Uzbekistan and China on international transportation will take effect starting Jan.1, 2018, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said in a message.

The agreement was signed on May 12, 2017 during the visit of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to China.

The agreement is aimed at creating mutually acceptable legal conditions for the implementation of international transportation between the two states and transit through their territories.

Thus, the parties will grant each other the right to carry out international road transportation on the territory of their states by vehicles registered on the territory of one of the countries along the routes determined by mutual agreement of the competent authorities.

Bilateral and transit transportation will be carried out on the basis of permits issued by the competent authorities of the two countries, which will exchange a mutually agreed number of forms of permits for the carriage of goods.

"The agreement will give a positive impetus to the further development of bilateral cooperation, open up new prospects for further expansion of trade and economic ties between the two countries and contribute to the formation of a mutually beneficial transportation market," said the ministry.
