Government of Kazakhstan plans to build a solar power plant with a capacity of 14 MW in the country’s South Kazakhstan region, the press service of the local executive body said in a message.

The relevant agreement on the construction was reached by the Kazakh Energy Ministry during the 8th session of the Assembly of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), which was held on January 13 in Abu Dhabi.

The project will be implemented jointly with the French Urbasolar SAS company, and supported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, which is expected to allocate a $8.8 million loan for its implementation, while the country’s clean technology fund will provide concessional financing amounting to $3.9 million.

From Kazakh side, the project will be implemented by Kaz Green Tek Solar LLP.

The new solar power plant "Zadaria" will add 14 MW of power in Kazakhstan's energy balance. So, the total installed capacity of existing and planned renewable energy generators in the country will reach 365 MW.
