Waste processing plants to appear in Kazakh region

A program of solid domestic waste utilization will be implemented in five cities of the East Kazakhstan region, regional governor Danial Akhmetov said.

"The issue of recycling household waste is being gradually solved in the region. This year, a program of solid domestic waste utilization will be implemented in Ust-Kamenogorsk, Semey, Ayagoz, Zyryanovsk and Shemonaikha," Akhmetov said.

Furthermore, negotiations are underway with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development on the construction of a waste processing plant in Ust-Kamenogorsk. A large-scale work will also be carried out in the region to introduce alternative energy sources.

"Four major projects are being implemented in the region, all four projects were presented at the international 'EXPO-2017' exhibition," he said.

The governor reminded that last year the Spanish company ARESOL and LLP ZhakyzSolar signed an agreement on the construction of a 30 MW solar power plant in the Zharma region. Feasibility study and design estimates are ready.

Another Spanish company "EPGSL" together with Kazakhstan's SpainCounsulting will build a wind power plant in the vicinity of Tayinti village of Ulan district. In addition, a design and estimate documentation has been prepared for the construction of two wind power stations in the vicinity of the Zhangiztobe settlement and the city of Shar.
