Turkmenistan creating state commission for grain harvesting

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has signed an order to establish a state commission for organized grain harvest in 2018 and approve its composition in order to ensure a rapid harvest without losses, grain's uninterrupted transportation to warehouses and elevators, and timely settlements with grain producers.

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has signed an order to establish a state commission for organized grain harvest in 2018 and approve its composition in order to ensure a rapid harvest without losses, grain's uninterrupted transportation to warehouses and elevators, and timely settlements with grain producers.

In accordance with the document, the Turkmen Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources, by organizing on-site proper maintenance of grain harvesters, is instructed to ensure their productive and uninterrupted work during the harvest, the Ministry of Road Transport, through a contract with the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources, is instructed to ensure timely transportation of harvested wheat from the fields to the reception points, warehouses and grain elevators without losses, as well as ensure smooth and efficient operation of vehicles.

In accordance with the document, the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources is allowed to use the vehicles of other ministries and specialized departments, as well as privately owned trucks on a contract basis when transporting wheat to the reception points, warehouses and grain elevators.

Turkmenistan plans to harvest 1.6 million tons of grain from 760,000 hectares of land in 2018.

In July 2017, the country harvested about 1 million tons of wheat. Turkmenistan was previously awarded by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations for achievements in food security.
