Kazakhstan expands export of fish products to the markets of China and the EU countries, Vice Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan Yerlan Nysanbayev said at the meeting of the Kazakh parliament, Kazakh media outlets reported.

Nasynbayev stressed that 17 Kazakh companies meet the high requirements of the European Union for the export of fish products. Fifty-two Kazakh producers are also included in the register of suppliers of fish products to China.

"The export of fish products is being expanded due to the agreement on veterinary certificate between Kazakhstan and China," Nysanbayev said.

He added that Kazakhstan currently exports fish products to Austria, Germany, Georgia, Canada, Kyrgyzstan, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Romania, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine and the Czech Republic.

"In 2017, Kazakh companies invested 2.5 billion tenge in the production of fish products. The main volume of fish processing accounts for Atyrau, Almaty, East Kazakhstan and Kyzylorda regions of the country. The total capacity of 72 fish processing enterprises amounts to 87,000 tons per year," Nysanbayev said.

Touching upon Kazakhstan’s import of fish products, the vice minister said that in 2017 the country significantly decreased the import of fish products, compared to the previous years.
