By Taleh Mursagulov - Trend:

A program for the development of dairy farming is being discussed in Azerbaijan, the board chairman of the Azerbaijan Association of Manufacturers and Exporters of Milk and Dairy Products Samir Eyyubov told Trend on Oct. 8.

In particular, the program provides for encouraging the establishment of new farms and increasing milk production.

"The program is under discussion and it is designed for four to five years," he said.

Eyyubov underlined that these steps are being taken to stimulate the development of dairy farming in Azerbaijan.

Talking about the prospects for the export of milk and dairy products, he stressed that, presently, Azerbaijan imports a large share of milk and dairy products.

"During the first eight months of 2018, we imported butter for $41 million," Eyyubov said, adding that, for the time being, it is unrealistic to talk about the export of Azerbaijani dairy products.
