Number of new small firms in Uzbekistan up by almost 25%

In January-September 2018, some 38,100 new small enterprises and microfirms were created in Uzbekistan, which is 23.6 percent more compared to the same period of 2017, the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said in a report.

The total number of small enterprises and microfirms operating in Uzbekistan amounted to 257,100, which is 11.8 percent more than by Oct. 1, 2017.

Reportedly, the biggest number of small enterprises and microfirms was created in the sphere of trade – 8,798, industry – 8,530, agriculture, forestry and fishery – 4,511, construction – 4,921.

In January-September 2018, 42,800 new enterprises and organizations were created in Uzbekistan, which is 10,000 (30.6 percent) more compared to the same period in 2017.

The number of enterprises and organizations that ceased their activities decreased by 39.3 percent compared to the same period last year and amounted to 6,600.

As a result, the number of existing enterprises and organizations has increased by 31,100 (10.9 percent) from the beginning of the year and amounted to 316,700.
