Uzbekistan, Russia ink over $27B worth agreements in one day

Uzbekistan and Russia, following the First Uzbek-Russian Interregional Cooperation Forum, have signed 785 bilateral agreements and memorandums totaling $27.1 billion, Uzbek media reported.

In particular, 242 agreements on trade and economic cooperation worth $1.2 billion and 136 agreements on implementation of joint investment projects worth $1.4 billion have been concluded.

Administration of the Surkhandarya region and Eco-Culture LLC (Stavropol region, Russia) have signed the agreement on creating an agro-complex for growing, storing, processing and packaging agricultural products with an annual capacity of 65,700 tons.

IMZ Avtokran (Ivanovo region, Russia) and the administration of the Navoi region have signed the agreement on organization of a joint venture in the Navoi FEZ for assembling modern truck-mounted cranes with an annual capacity of 100 units and a cost of $10 million with the creation of 50 jobs.

Another major project is the agreement on organization of a trading house in Ufa (Russia) worth $800,000 for delivery of fruits and vegetables through the "green corridor". The annual turnover of the trade house will be $45 million a year. The facility is planned to be equipped with refrigerators for 15,000 tons (1st stage) and 10 vehicles. The project will be implemented with the participation of the wholesale distribution center Zurbazar (Bashkortostan) and the administration of the Samarkand region.

The two countries have signed six agreements worth $864.6 million on financial and banking relations, including agreements between the National Bank of Uzbekistan and Sberbank of Russia on the allocation of a $200 million credit line, and between Uzbekistan's O'zsanoatqurilishbank (Uzbek Industrial Building Bank) and Gazprombank on cooperation worth 3.5 billion rubles ($50 million).

Also, 600 agreements on trade and economy, in the amount of about $1.76 billion, and 185 investment agreements, in the amount of $25.3 billion, have been concluded.

As a result of the agreements reached, 79 Uzbek-Russian joint ventures, 23 new trading houses and 20 wholesale distribution centers will be opened in Uzbekistan.
