Launch date of new metro line in Istanbul revealed

A new metro line between Tavsantepe station and Sabiha Gokcen Airport in Istanbul will be opened Oct. 29, 2019, Trend reports citing the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey.

Construction of the new metro line in Istanbul is one of important projects to date, according to the ministry.

“Opening the new metro line will improve traffic and increase passenger transportation,” the ministry said.

On July 3, a source in the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey told Trend that the length of the Istanbul metro lines will be increased by 600 kilometers.

Istanbul’s metro consists of eight lines, six of which are in the European part of the city. There are about 70 stations in Istanbul metro, the length of its lines is 160 kilometers.

Previously, it was reported that 10.8 billion Turkish liras will be invested in development of Turley's railway infrastructure in 2018.

The work is underway in Turkey to implement 50 transport and communication projects.
