Kazakhstan will attract investments from 40 countries, Aibek Smadiyarov, head of press service for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, said during a briefing on Monday, Trend reports citing Kazinform.

“In order to improve the efficiency of work put for investment attraction, 40 priority countries have been determined,” he said.

According to Smadiyarov, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has developed key performance indicators for improving the effectiveness and accountability of the activities of foreign institutions.

In particular, it is a matter of statistical data (the volume of gross inflows of foreign direct investment and turnover), attracting new investors, and working with existing ones (monitoring the attitude of existing investors, reinvesting).

“Each embassy has been given specific tasks in their host country, performance indicators, persons in charge have been designated, and new approaches to work have been developed. The necessary functions for attracting investments and establishing relations with the diplomatic missions of our country abroad will be assigned to deputy heads of central state and local executive bodies, as well as national companies,” he said.

Aibek Smadiyarov announced that a monitoring system is being created within the project office for a direct chain interaction: embassies – center – front offices of Kazakh Invest NC JSC in the regions.

“This will allow for creating a direct link between all participants in attracting investments. There are already front-offices of Kazakh Invest NC JSC operating in all regions. In turn, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan will coordinate their work with our diplomatic missions abroad,” concluded Smadiyarov.
