Iran increases port capacity

Iranian ports’ capacity to harbor ships has increased, while the country seeks to boost its southern ports for cooperation with the International North-South Transport Corridor.

“Despite the effects of sanctions on the country’s economy, the procedures at the ports and in the maritime sector have remained normal and 200 ships daily unload and load cargo at Iran’s ports,” Deputy Chairman of Iran's Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO) Hadi Haghshenas said, Trend reports citing Mehr News Agency.

He noted the ports’ capacity to harbor ships has increased.

Referring to the role of Iran’s ports in the establishment of the International North-South Transport Corridor, he said: “The establishment of the INSTC will create job opportunities, so the southern ports should be boosted.”
