Turkmenistan plans to cooperate with the France’s Thales company in order to modernize the airport set to be built in the city of Kerki of Lebap Region, as well as to ensure flight safety, Trend reports referring to the “Altyn Asyr” local TV channel.
The construction of the airport in Kerki will be carried out by the local "Gündogdy" private enterprise.
This issue was discussed at a government meeting. The president of Turkmenistan noted that it is necessary to constantly introduce new technologies, exchange experience and innovative developments with foreign partners, and with Thales in particular.
Construction work is scheduled to begin in May 2019. The commissioning of the facility is planned for April 2021.
