Investments into Kazakhstan's food industry decrease

The manufacturing volume of Kazakhstan’s food industry in the period of January-April 2019 has reached its maximum in recent years, Trend reports referring to EnergyProm.

In the reporting period, the volume of food industry manufacturing has amounted to 613 billion tenge, which is an annual increase of 2.2 percent.

The major part of the volume (81 percent) accounts for food products. Meanwhile, the value of the food products has amounted to 496.7 billion tenge, which is 1.1 percent less than in the same period of last year.

The manufacturing increase is due to the increase of beverages production. During first four months of 2019, the volume of manufactured beverages has reached 116.3 billion tenge, which is 19.5 percent more that in the same period of the previous year (index of industrial production is 122 percent).

At the same time, the volume of capital investments into the food industry is decreasing.

Thus, during the period of January-April 2019, the total volume of investments into the fixed capital of food industry has amounted to 25.9 billion tenge, which is an annual decrease of 20.9 percent. The percentage of the food industry investments in the total volume of investments into Kazakhstan’s fixed capital is 0.9 percent (1.2 percent last year).

As of the end of April 2019, the number of operating small and medium businesses in the food industry has amounted to 2,700 (+5.7 percent).

Some 2,600 of them account for small business, whereas 134 of them are entities of medium business. Furthermore, 2,400 companies manufacture food products, whereas 343 produce beverages.
