New metro line to be built in Turkey’s Izmir

A new metro line will be built in the Turkish city of Izmir, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey told Trend.

As noted in the ministry, the total length of the new metro line will be 13.5 kilometers.

“It is expected that the construction of the new metro line, which was designed in 2017, will begin in early 2020,” the ministry said.

It was noted that a tender will be held within the next 6 months to select a contractor for the construction of the new metro line in Izmir.

"The new metro line in Izmir will include 11 stations, and it is planned to launch unmanned trains through this line," according to the ministry.

The current length of the Izmir metro lines is 136 kilometers.
