Cryptocurrency mining PCs found in Iran’s Ardabil province

Some 118 cryptocurrency-mining PCs were found in Gulshad village of Parsabad district of Iran’s north-western Ardabil province, chief of police of Parsabad district, Colonel Huseyn Bahmani told the Iran Police News, Trend reports.

He said that the PCs were found in an enterprise producing cotton swabs (for cleaning ears).

Bahmani said that the cryptocurrency machines were worth 15 billion rials (about $357,000).

One person was detained at the enterprise.

Meanwhile, the discussions are being held in the government regarding the legalization of use of cryptocurrency machines in Iran.

One of the main reasons for the excessive electricity consumption in Iran is the activity of illegal cryptocurrency mining farms.
