Uzbekistan Railways and Turkish Railways (TCDD Tasimacilik A.S.) intend to develop transportation by the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, as well as launch container trains, Trend reports with reference to Uzbekistan Railways.

Issues of cooperation between the railways of the two countries were discussed during the meeting of the intergovernmental commission in Ankara on July 22-23.

Uzbekistan and Turkey intend to explore the possibility of launching container trains in order to develop international transport corridors passing through the countries.

In May, 2019, Turkey has canceled entry visas for Uzbek road carriers for a period of 30 days within the framework of the practical implementation of the intergovernmental agreement on the international road transport of passengers and goods, signed during the visit of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Turkey on October 25, 2017.

The Uzbek-Turkish Strategic Cooperation Council of the highest level was established at the end of April 2018 as part of the state visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Uzbekistan.

In 2018, the volume of trade between the two countries increased by 40 percent up to $2.1 billion, and about 75,000 citizens of Turkey visited Uzbekistan, which is almost two times more than in the preceding year.
