Two-thirds of all enterprises in Uzbekistan account for service sector

As of August 1, 2019, over 249,000 companies and firms, or 66.1 percent of the total number of enterprises and organizations operating in Uzbekistan, provide services in the country Trend reports referring to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

In the structure of existing enterprises and organizations, the predominant share is engaged in trading activities (37.1 percent).

The share of operating enterprises and organizations providing accommodation and food services amounted to 9.6 percent. The proportion of operating enterprises and organizations involved in transportation and storage reached 6.1 percent.

The share of existing enterprises and organizations engaged in information activities and providing communication services is 3.1 percent, while those providing health and social services comprise 3 percent.

According to the provided comparative data from last year, on August 1, 2018, 205,800 enterprises and organizations were involved in the services sector.

In their overall structure, trade services accounted for 33.1 percent, accommodation and food - 9.1 percent, transportation and storage - 6.2 percent, information and communications - 3.3 percent, health and social services - 3.1 percent, other species - 45.2 percent.

The services form such key factors of economic growth as scientific knowledge, intangible forms of accumulation, information technology, and the integration of entrepreneurial activity, said the committee.

They include, among others, transportation and delivery of goods from the supplier to the customer, entertainment events, hairdressers, restaurants, repair shops, sports clubs, and travel agencies.
