Kazakhstan's Kostanay airport to start receiving cargo aircrafts

The airport and the reconstructed airstrip opening is planned for September 16, 2019 in Kazakhstan’s Kostanay city, the Head of Kostanay region Archimed Mukhambetov said, Trend reports with reference to Kazakh media.

“This year the two year long implementation of the project on reconstruction of Kostanay airport’s airstrip is nearing the end. Some 4.400 billion tenge have been allocated on the project. Following the end of the project’s implementation the airport will be able to receive cargo aircrafts,” he said.

According to Mukhambetov, the airport is 99 percent finished and local authorities are planning to open it on September 16th.

The information that the Kostanay airport will stop receiving aircrafts from June to September 2019 has become known in the beginning of the year. This was due to the reconstruction of the airstrip.

Previously Trend also reported, that within the realization of Kazakhstan’s State program for infrastructural development 'Nurly Zhol' for 2015-2019, reconstruction of a passenger terminal of the Kostanay airport of Kazakhstan is planned. The construction work is to be launched in 2020.
