Uzbekistan to replenish state budget by $1.7 B due to customs duties

It is planned to replenish the state budget of Uzbekistan in 2019 by 16.5 trillion soums ($1.7 billion) due to customs duties, said Deputy Chairman of the Customs Committee of Uzbekistan Gafurjon Shukurov at a press conference on September 11, Trend reports citing Uzbek media.

Shukurov noted that for eight months of 2019, customs duties were collected in the amount of 9.9 trillion soums, while for the whole 2018 this figure was 11.5 trillion soums. By the end of the year, he said, this figure is expected to reach 16.5 trillion soums.

In order to implement state programs for developing entrepreneurship and attracting foreign investment, preferential customs duties in the amount of 47.5 trillion soums in 2018 and of 39.5 trillion for eight months of this year were provided .

As a result of monitoring conducted by customs authorities in 2018, cases of aimless use of benefits related to customs payments in the amount of over 185.1 billion soums were revealed at 207 business entities; over eight months of the current year, it amounted to 30.5 billion soums at 60 entities.
