Officials comment rumors on construction halt of Kazakhstan's metro

Construction of two new metro stations in Kazakhstan’s Almaty city will not be suspended, Trend reports with reference to Kazakh media.

Thus, Almatymetrokurylys JSC (Almaty Metro) released an official statement in relation to the rumors about Almaty metro.

“In regards to the spread information about possible halt of construction, we are reporting on the following: Almatymetrokurylys JSC is officially stating that the company is not planning of suspending the construction of Saryarka and Dostyk metro stations,” the report said.

The company also noted that currently the construction of metro goes according to the plan.

“Almatymetrokurylys JSC is implementing and will go on implementing its responsibility for construction of the metro facilities in accordance with the agreement,” the statement said.

Almaty metro is the first and only metro in Kazakhstan, second in Central Asia, and 16th and the last on the territory of the former USSR. The official opening of the metro took place on December 1, 2011.
