Russia launches new truck assembly line in Uzbekistan

Russian KAMAZ truck manufacturing company and Uzbekistan’s UzAuto Trailer launched a new assembly line for KAMAZ trucks in Samarkand, Trend reports citing Uzbek media.

The opening ceremony was held as part of a working visit of Tatarstan’s President Rustam Minnikhanov to Uzbekistan.

The assembly line is organized in a new production building with a total area of ​​7,400 square meters. It is equipped with modern technological and auxiliary equipment, which will produce over 3,000 trucks a year.

In addition, a section for the assembly and installation of gas equipment on the car chassis was set up in the building.

With commissioning the new line, the plant moved to a deeper degree of the chassis production technology using localized batteries, fuels and lubricants, gas cylinders and other domestic components.

During the ceremony, UzAutoTrailer was awarded the Hardox in My Body certificate, which testifies to the quality of the tipper bodies produced by the plant. The document was presented by Johnny Sjostrom, Executive Vice President of the Swedish SSAB company, a world leader in the production of high-strength steel under the well-known brands Strenx, Hardox, Docol and others.

Documents on the establishment KAMAZ and UzAuto Trailer’s joint venture KAMAZ ASIA LEASING was also signed during the event. The authorized capital of the leasing company will be $5 million, of which $2.5 million is direct investment by the Russian side.

This joint venture will be able to ensure the purchase of KAMAZ vehicles on lease in the "one window" mode.

UzAuto Trailer was established in 2012 by Uzbekistan’s Uzavtosanoat car manufacturing company. Cooperation with KAMAZ has been established since December 2017. Last March, a presentation of KAMAZ vehicles manufactured in Uzbekistan was held. To date, the range of trucks manufactured by the plant includes more than 18 types of equipment with a lifting capacity of 10 to 36 tons.
