BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 19
By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:
Small and medium-sized business owners (SMEs) who have leased municipality-owned areas for their business activities have been exempted from lease payments for three months to mitigate the negative impact of COVID-19 on the business, Mayor of Tbilisi Kakha Kaladze stated, Trend reports citing Georgian media.
As Kaladze noted, small and medium-sized business owners will not have to pay lease taxes from March through May 2020.
"If a particular business owner has leased and then rented the area to the other individual, the concession applies to all of them”, said Kaladze.
Meanwhile, on March 13, 2020, the Georgian government decided to postpone the payment of property and income tax for hotels, restaurants, tourist agencies and tour operators in Georgia by four months.
From February 26, 2020, till now, Georgia has had 40 confirmed cases of COVID-19, and one person already recovered and was discharged.
Amid the new coronavirus outbreak, Georgia has suspended direct flights with China, Iran and Italy, which remain the largest centers of the outbreak.
The outbreak in the Chinese city of Wuhan - which is an international transport hub - began at a fish market in late December 2019. The symptoms include cough, headache, fatigue, fever, aching and difficulty breathing. It is primarily spread through airborne contact or contact with contaminated objects.
