Production of the "Pride" car will be completely stopped in Iran with the suspension of production of the Pride 131 in the 4th month of the current Iranian year (June 21-July 21, 2020), executive director of Iran's Saipa car manufacturer Javad Soleymani said, Trend reports referring to the company’s website.

According to Soleymani, the latest Pride 111 model was released on April 23. Thus, the production of Pride 111 and Pride 132 was stopped.

Soleymani added that thus, the production of Pride car in Iran will be permanently suspended.

The official said that as for the alternative to the Pride car, it has been repeatedly stated that there is no alternative to the production of a car worth $2,600. Because in the current situation, due to high prices for raw materials, rising foreign exchange, US sanctions against Iran, restrictions on imports of spare parts, it is impossible to produce a car at this price.

Production of the Pride 132 model in Iran was suspended in mid-January. The reason for the suspension of production of the Pride is the lack of safety of this car.

The US imposed new sanctions on Iran in November 2018. Over the past period, the sanctions affected Iranian oil exports, more than 700 banks, companies and individuals.
