Ministry: Iran pays special attention to local production

Iran pays special attention to the domestic production of previously imported products, said Iran's Acting Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Hossein Modarres Khiabani, Trend reports citing the ministry.

According to Khiabani, Iran produced $1 billion worth of products (which were previously imported to Iran) domestically in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 to March 20, 2020).

Khiabani added that, a number of contracts were signed last year for the domestic production of products worth $3 billion.

The acting minister said that it is planned to sign contracts for domestic production of the products worth $3.2 billion in the current Iranian year (began March 20, 2020).

"At present, there are a total of 10,500-10,600 mines in Iran and about 4,400 of them are inactive,” he said.

Khiabani said that the mining products worth $9 billion were exported last Iranian year and it is planned that to export of mining products worth $10.5 billion in the current Iranian year.

According to acting minister, at present, there are 45,000-46,000 industrial enterprises in industrial parks in Iran. About 10,000 of them are inactive. The efforts are being made to restore the activities of these enterprises.
