Qeshm Free Zone has contributed to the island development and the government praises the success of the Qeshm Free Zone Organization, said Iran's First Vice President.
"Initiatives of the Qeshm Free Zone Organization will help to ensure welfare of the people and attract foreign and domestic investors in oil, gas and tourism sectors," said Eshaq Jahangiri, Trend reports citing IRNA.
The first VP discussed the zone's capacities and projects to be implemented in tourism and construction sectors during a meeting with management of Qeshm Free Zone.
"The organization will create jobs, develop industries and lead to sustainable progress in fisheries and export," he said. "It is expected that in current economic situation, free zones across the country can play important role in economic development."
"The unemployment rate in Qeshm island was around 5.2 percent that is a record in the country," Jahangiri said.
The official noted oil, gas and energy projects to be commissioned in the Qeshm Free Zone by 2021.
Qeshm Free Zone aims to increase export and foreign currency revenues alongside attracting foreign investment, said the report.
