It is planned to increase the manufacturing capacity of electric motorcycles in Iran from 50 percent to 60 percent, Iran's Acting Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Hossein Modarres Khiabani said at a meeting with members of the Iran's Motorcycle Manufacturers Association, Trend reports citing the ministry.
According to the report, problems related to manufacturing of electric motorcycles and other necessary issues were discussed at the meeting.
“The allocation of foreign currency for the purchase of spare parts on the manufacturing of electric motorcycles was discussed,” report said.
“Thus, it was decided to use the currency obtained from exports for the purchase of spare parts and intended materials,” report added.
According to report, the potential for the manufacturing of electric motorcycles has been created in Iran. At present, there are 15,000 electric motorcycles in the warehouses of related factories in Iran.
“It is possible to manufacture 5,000 electric motorcycles in Iran by the end of the current Iranian year (began March 20, 2020),” report noted.
It was also noted at the meeting that Iran has the potential to manufacture batteries for electric motorcycles, the report said.
