Fuel consumption by Iran's power plants increases

Iran's power plants consumed 13.8 billion liters of fuel during last Iranian year (started March 21, 2019) including 4.3 billion liters of mazut and 9.5 billion liters of diesel, and they are expected to consume more in the current Iranian year (started March 20, 2020), said Managing Director of Thermal Power Plants Holding Company.

"Iran's power plants have consumed 50 percent of diesel and 30 percent of mazut that were produced in the country during last Iranian year," said Mohsen Tarztalab, Trend reports citing IRNA.

"So far, the power plants fuel reservoirs are filled with 3.8 billion liters of diesel and 2.7 billion liters of mazut," he added. "Twenty-five power plants can obtain more fuel and improve their infrastructures," he said.

In turn, Managing Director of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC) Keramat Viskarami also announced that the country's power plants have received more fuel in the current Iranian year.

"The volume of fuel that delivered to power plants has increased from 300 million liters in February to 2.3 billion liters," he said adding that the fuel consumption by power plants has increased considerable from May 21 to June 20.
