Investments into Uzbek electrotechnical sector increase

The total volume of foreign investments in Uzbekistan’s economy made $4.8 billion in 1H2020, Trend reports citing the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan.

The volume of direct foreign investments amounted to $3.2 billion, while the volume of foreign loans under the state guarantee amounted to $1.6 billion.

The volume of direct foreign investments in fixed assets made $2.6 billion. The growth rate compared to the same period of 2019 made 1.2 times. The share of assimilated direct foreign investments in the total volume of investments has grown to 29.5 percent.

For the first six months of 2020, 494 projects (28 large industrial enterprises and 466 industrial objects of regional importance) were put into operation in Uzbekistan.

Leaders on attraction of investments in economy of Uzbekistan became Russia, China, Germany and Turkey, and the total number of countries-investors in economy of the country made 37.

"The most attractive for investors following the results of the considered period were electrotechnical industry (growth by 13 times as compared to the indicators of the same period of 2019), production of construction materials (growth by 3.6 times), ICT sphere (growth by 3.5 times). Food industry (1.5-fold growth), chemical industry (1.3-fold growth) and textile industry (1.6-fold growth) also showed good growth dynamics," the message said.

In the first half of 2020, the highest growth dynamics of foreign direct investment by region was observed in Namangan (1.6 times), Tashkent (1.6 times), Kashkadarya (1.5 times) and Syrdarya (1.4 times) regions.

Overall, more than 2,000 social, infrastructure and production facilities are expected to be commissioned by the end of 2020: 206 new large production facilities, 240 regional production facilities, and some 1,600 social and infrastructure facilities.
