The government of Uzbekistan is increasing the amount of cash currency that can be freely taken abroad, Trend reports citing the Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan.

Corresponding resolution was adopted by the government of Uzbekistan on Aug. 10, 2020.

According to the resolution, cash currency of Uzbekistan and (or) cash foreign currency in excess of 70 million soum ($6,815), taken in or out of the country by individuals, is subject to declaration (currently the amount is $2,000).

Furthermore, under the resolution, individuals of Uzbekistan can take outside cash currency within the amount equal or not exceeding in equivalent to 100 million soum ($9,735), in compliance with customs control rules (currently, this amount is $5,000).

The mentioned decree comes into force on September 1, 2020.

According to the results of the first half of 2020, despite all the difficulties and restrictions associated with curbing the spread of COVID-19, the volume of foreign investment in the economy of Uzbekistan amounted to $4.8 billion, including direct investment - $3.2 billion.

This was also facilitated by the fact that for the first time in the last 10 years, the country's position in the credit risk rating of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) improved.
