The production of agricultural goods in Iran has increased from 63 million tons to 83 million tons over seven years (the current government in Iran has been in power since 2013), Minister of Agriculture Jihad Kazem Khavazi said, Trend reports citing the ministry.
The minister stressed the production of agricultural goods is projected to reach 88 million tons by the end of the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2020, to March 21, 2021).
He added that the production of horticultural goods has been increased from 16 million tons to 24 million tons within 7 years. The production of these goods is expected to increase by 25 million tons by the end of the current calendar year.
Khavazi noted that livestock and poultry production has increased from 12 million tons to 16 million tons during the last 7 years.
"The production of fish and fishing products has increased from 900,000 tons to 1.3 million tons over seven years. Moreover, production is expected to increase to 1.4 million tons by the end of this the current Iranian year," he said.
According to the minister, Iran's total agricultural production has increased from 97 million tons to 125 million tons in 7 years, and this figure is expected to reach 130 million tons by the end of the current Iranian year.
Khavazi emphasized that Iran has increased wheat production from 9.3 million tons to 13.7 million tons over seven years.
