Iran exports large amounts of construction materials

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 14

Iran exported construction materials worth $7 billion in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 to March 20, 2020), Acting Minister of Industry Mine and Trade of Iran, Jafar Sarghini said, Trend reports citing the ministry.

According to the acting minister, Iran meets 100 percent of its needs in the area of construction materials and exports the additional materials.

Sarghini added that Iran currently produces twice as much steel, cement, ceramics and other products as it needs.

“In total, Iran exported mining and quarrying products worth $10 billion last Iranian year,” he said.

Iran exported a total of 133 million tons of goods worth $41.3 billion in the last Iranian year and imported 35.3 million tons of goods worth $43.7 billion.

Iran exported 38 million tons of goods worth $10.9 billion in the first five months of the current Iranian year (March 20-August 21). During the same period, Iran imported 13.8 million tons of goods worth $13.7 billion.
