Iran Parliament reviews the plan for increasing cash subsidy

A member of the Program and Budget Commission Committee of Iranian Parliament announced the increase of the monthly cash subsidy in the budget plan for the next Iranian year (start on March 21, 2021), Trend reports via ILNA.

Referring to the re-registration of people for subsidies and the "Income-Rank Quiz” that is said to be taken for identification of those eligible, Mohammadreza Mirtajjedini said the re-registration plan approved by the parliament is to make sure that the eligible people are not deprived of the livelihood support plans,” Trend reports citing ILNA.

Regarding the group that will receive subsidies approved by the parliament, he said that “Three groups of people with incomes below the minimum wages, minimum wages and the average wages will be included in this plan.”

“Minimum and the average wage beneficiaries are the middle class of the society,” he said. “These are given a subsidy of 600,000 rials ($14) per month.”

“There are people who receive lower than the minimum wage, which is about 20 million people in the country,” the Iranian MP said. “These people are included in the parliamentary plan of 1,200,000 rials ($28) worth of monthly subsidies.”

“The Parliament is going to consider increasing the cash subsidy in the next year budget plan,” he said.
