Turkmenistan, Russia’s Tatarstan increase trade despite COVID-19

Turkmenistan and Russia’s Tatarstan increased the volume of trade despite the coronavirus pandemic, Taliya Minullina, Head of Tatarstan Investment Development Agency told Trend.

She noted that the trade turnover between Turkmenistan and Russia’s Tatarstan amounted to more than $66 million in 1H2020, which is almost twice as much as in the same period last year.

"The volume of imports from Turkmenistan to Tatarstan amounted to $9.8 million in 1H2020, most of them came from plastics and products made from them – $ 8.4 million, as well as vegetables and some edible roots and tubers," she added.

Meanwhile, she noted that the volume of exports from Tatarstan to Turkmenistan increased 3 times in 1H2020, compared to the same period last year, and amounted to $56.3 million.

"For the most part, Tatarstan supplied Turkmenistan with means of land transport – for $35.7 million; rubber and products made from them – for $6.4 million; nuclear reactors, boilers, equipment, and mechanical devices – for $6.9 million; fats and oils of animal and vegetable origin and products of their splitting – for $3 million," Minullina stressed.
