The exports from North Khorasan Province (northeastern Iran) decreased by 30.7 percent in terms of value and 17.8 percent in terms of volume during the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 20 through November 20, 2020), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Chairman of Bojnord Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture Saeed Pur Abadi told IRNA, Trend reports.
The chairman stressed that 202,000 tons of goods worth $51.3 million were exported from Iran's North Khorasan Province within the reporting period.
“The exported goods were mainly petrochemical products, including urea, melamine and nitrogen, steel products, and food, including pasta, sweets, sugar candy, vegetables, tomatoes, cement, ceramics, vegetables and others,” he added.
Pur Abadi noted that 67.5 percent of the exported goods were petrochemical products. Thus, 165,000 tons of petrochemical products worth $34.6 million were exported from the province over the 8 months.
According to him, these goods were exported to Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Iraq, Germany, Georgia, Italy, Albania, UAE, Turkey, Russia, Bulgaria, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Oman, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Syria.
“Furthermore, 4,800 tons of goods worth $27.4 million were imported to Iran's North Khorasan Province in 8 months,” he said.
The chairman also said that the imports increased by 77.9 percent in value and 84.6 percent in terms of volume.
Pur Abadi emphasized that the imported goods were mainly fabric, nickel, ferrochrome, manganese, electrode and others.
He added that these goods were imported from China, Malaysia, the UAE, Turkey, Russia, Georgia, Pakistan, South Korea, South Africa, Germany and Turkmenistan.
There are about 400 manufacturing enterprises operating in Iran's North Khorasan Province.
