Iranian minister talks about export of agricultural products

Iran exported 6.1 million tons of agricultural products during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 20 through December 20, 2020), Iranian Minister of Agriculture Jihad Kazem Khavazi said in his speech to parliament, Trend reports citing Iranian parliament’s official website.

According to the minister, the exports of agricultural products increased by 22 percent in terms of volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.

He added that Iran exported 889,000 tons of horticulture products within 9 months. This is an increase of 38 percent in terms of volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.

Khavazi noted that Iran exported 403,000 tons of apples over the reporting period. While in the same period last Iranian year, it exported 300,000 tons of apples worth $459 million.

“Furthermore, Iran has produced 4.12 million tons of apples since the beginning of the current Iranian year. About 1.05 million tons of it produced in the West Azerbaijan Province,” the minister stressed.
